Knitting Happens!

Finally! Knitting Progress! After having been very distracted and not very knitterly, I make hat and scarf progress. See below...I think my hat is finally to where I'm going to have to start decreasing! AAAH! Here comes The Math part!! Eek! I am going to have to look up how to do it again...so far it looks nice and fits nice...let's hope it ends up that way!

And of course scarfs aren't that hard...I think the yarn boors me...too acrylic. So I don't like them that much, but they aren't for me! ha At least they are an easy pattern (CO 18 sts, then K1, YO, K2tg)...I took off one in hopes that it would move the project along a bit faster. While it is cool to do two at once, my yarn moves faster (no tangling) if I have just one working skein.

K, time for sleep...sorry for all the exclaimation points...I've had coffee...but I MUST go to sleep or I will be late for work in the morning.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Mmmmm...cake! A specially made for me German Chocolate yummie goodness. :-)

Mom cooked it, Warren frosted it...I think he did a pretty good job!

So, Mom and Jake flew down to celebrate the no. 28 w/ me...I picked them up early on Saturday morning (up early on my b-day! not fair!) but we had a good time. Jake even weathered a stop by the shoe store, where Mom proceeded to out-do me and buy 3 pairs! I'm so excited for her tho b/c one of them are some cute heels! Go Mom!

Then we explored an antique store downtown, stopped at the fish market (you can see Jake over there scoping out the Octopus!! I think he was really curious about why anyone would want to eat octopi...I told him they were really good!) where we got some big shrimpies to grill for b-day dinner. Then we drug Warren away from his studies (two tests this week) to the Titanic Exhibit at Moody Gardens!! It was amazing to see all the stuff that they are able to salvage...like papers, clothing, etc. I can't believe that it has survived down there in the seawater, esp. for almost 100 years!

Next, we came home, W resumed studies, and we napped until time to fix dinner. Mmmm...shrimp.

Thanks for the birthday goodies and cards everyone! I am most excited about the Spa $$ that Warren gave me! I can't wait to schedule a massage...aaaaahhhhhh.

The next day found us at the beach! Grace even found a seashell! She is turning into quite the beach dog... here she is she even has her beach towel ready!

Then it wasn't too much longer before it was time to head back to the airport. It was a fun birthday! I'm glad I got to see Mom and Jake and go do some stuff... :-)

*hugs*

It's time for a list...

I always think of things that I want to blog or think that I need to "talk" about, but then never get around to actually typing it up...so here's a catch-up list of what's been going on since January!
1. Warren and I are completely addicted to WoW. For those of you not in the 'know' it is a huge online computer game with over 10 million players world-wide. Oh yeah, it stands for World of Warcraft and is cool because you get to create your own character down to the facial features, hair-color, race [elf, gnome, un-dead, human, orc, dwarf, tauren (which is like a cow)], profession, and skills. It is intense enough to have it's own wiki & helpful database. We li ke it because we can get online and play with his friends...the mode of play is that you complete different types of quests to level your character up (the highest is lvl 70) which is the most awesome because then you can basically run around and do what you want, but even when you get to the top level, then they style of gameplay changes and you do raids and other types of stuff that I don't know about because I'm only lvl 31. :-) Anyway, we like it and it's fun to play together, and don't worry Moms' it is not interferring with his studies!!

2. I didn't really make New Year's resolutions...at least not the usual "I'm going to exercise more, I'm going to eat healthy, I'm going to lose 5 lbs..." type that everyone always makes. But it has come about that I have started out on a better exercise plan with the new year...Angi (one of my co-workers) and I have started power walking nearly everyday after school and we've also started doing yoga twice a week. It makes such a huge difference for me to have a work-out buddy! Thanks Ang! So far so good...and my butt feels tighter :-)

3. About 3 weeks ago, my old computer began to have problems. Seriously. Like I would turn it on and could hear it come on, but nothing on the screen...it would take 5-6 tries and sometimes more, before my screen would finally show up. I got it in 2004, so I decided it was time for an upgrade (plus, I was a little jealous of W's ;-) So, here it is...my *new* Sony Vaio: (from Best Buy of course...because we love BB!!)

I especially love its pearly whiteness and the new "bubbles" screensaver that comes with Vista. Vista isn't that crappy...(at least not yet) but it is rather different from XP...grrr...(and that is WoW that's on the screen btw).

4. I have a funny librarian story...yesterday as 5th grade was getting ready to leave (they are my last class and leave school from my room) there were a few that were hurrying to check out at the end and I wasn't behind the circ desk because I was hearding the rest of them out the door...so one little boy decides he's going to do it himself. So he goes behind my desk, scans his library card, scans his books, click's 'ok', and then says, "Mrs. Worsham! I checked out!" Now, he is one of those that can have his 'moments' so I was like, "Hang on Joey and lemme check it!" So I did...and he was fine (hello! they watch me do it all the time...it's not really that hard), but he was so proud of himself, it was all I could do to not giggle because when I told him, "Ok, you did it right, thanks..." he walked away from the circ desk and said, "YES, man that was soo cool! I'm going to be a librarian someday!!" HA...I may let him check the whole class out next week if he wants!! Lol!

And...I think that's pretty much it for now! We'll end with a cute animal picture :-)

Krewe of Barkus and Meoux!!

Warren was a little bit skeptical when I told him that I'd signed him up too for the dog parade...but by the time we left yesterday he had to admit that it was so much fun! Last year on their site they stated that they had about 200 animals participate...I think they had waaay more this year! There were animals everywhere! There was the Krewe of Intensive Kitties (not really sick, but traveling on their float in a baby ICU container...think they work for UTMB?!?!), the Krewe of Quackus, too many various dogs to mention, and several ferrets, and at least one parrot!! I haven't figured out how to caption pictures on here; so here is a series of some of the ones I just mentioned...

They had their little windows open some so they had some air...

Next we have our bird representatives...oh, and the parrot was traveling in style on his person's Segway...

Check out some of the cool dogs above...the very flashy and overdressed, the green (be sure to look at her jeans and hands!!!!!), and the small captain of his own ship! ha

And of course the star of the parade...the Princess Grace. (and me!)
Yay! We had so much fun! Warren said it was like I was famous because alot of my kids were there..so I tried to save my beads to give to just the students that I knew...I mean I do have like 630!! I bet we saw maybe 20ish :-)
Anyway, we stole some ideas for next year...like going and buying bags of beads...and who knows?? maybe Grace will go pink?!?!
